A General Lower Bound for Radiative B Decay

چکیده

In a wide class of models – including the standard model – flavour-changing neutral currents are suppressed by an approximate chiral symmetry of the low-energy lagrangian. This symmetry allows the derivation of general relations among low-energy flavour-changing processes. We derive one such: the relative sizes of the decay rates b → sγ, b → dγ and s → dγ. Together with a unitarity-related lower bound on the rate for the strangenesschanging hyperon decay Ω → Ξγ we obtain a reasonably model-independent lower bound for the inclusive b → sγ rate.

QCD radiative enhancement of the decay b →

QCD radiative enhancement of the decay b → c c s. Abstract A substantial enhancement is found of the b → c c s decay rate due to the QCD interaction within the cs pair, which enhancement may amount to 30%, or more. Some general features of calculation of the QCD radiative corrections in two first orders are discussed.

Radiative corrections to bound-state properties in QED

This talk summarizes some results on bound-state properties obtained since the previous (1998) RADCOR meeting. Recent results on radiative corrections to positronium decay width and the g-factor of a bound electron are described. A new approach to evaluating recoil corrections in systems consisting of particles with different masses is discussed.

Theoretical constraints on the rare tau decays in the MSSM

The Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model contains in general sources of tau lepton flavour violation which induce the rare decays τ → μγ and τ → eγ. We argue in this paper that the observation of both rare processes would imply a lower bound on the radiative muon decay of the form BR(μ → eγ) ∼ C×BR(τ → μγ)BR(τ → eγ). We estimate the size of the constant C without specifying the origin of the t...

Phenomenological implications of moduli-dominant SUSY breaking

We study moduli-dominated SUSY breaking within the framework of string models. This type of SUSY breaking in general leads to non-universal soft masses, i.e. soft scalar masses and gaugino masses. Further gauginos are lighter than sfermions. This non-universality has phenomenologically important implications. We investigate radiative electroweak symmetry breaking in the mass spectrum derived fr...

Microscopic theory of multiple-phonon-mediated dephasing and relaxation of quantum dots near a photonic band gap

We derive a quantum theory of the role of acoustic and optical phonons in modifying the optical absorption line shape, polarization dynamics, and population dynamics of a two-level atom (quantum dot) in the “colored” electromagnetic vacuum of a photonic band-gap (PBG) material. This is based on a microscopic Hamiltonian describing both radiative and vibrational processes quantum mechanically. W...
